Its hard to believe that the holidays have already come and gone. Its 2019 and less than a month away from Valentine's day! How did this happen?? Frosty and Santa are still in my front yard... Time seems to fly by faster every year. I am certainly not done reflecting on the incredible experiences that I had in 2018. For example, this past December I had the pleasure of co-hosting a calligraphy and wreath making workshop. It was the first workshop I have ever hosted and it was such an incredible experience. It was a whirlwind, no doubt, but a beautiful one.
Abbey of Abbey Ratcliff Design came to me with this idea for a collaboration and it developed a life of its own from there. Hotel Teatro was kind enough to host us in their cozy and eclectic lounge area. With their fire toasting up the room, hand-crafted cocktails, charcuterie, and holiday tunes, it was the perfect setting to get us all in the spirit of the season.
We had a class of 14 incredible ladies. They each created so much beauty and it was extremely gratifying to see how unique everyone's creations were. As someone who does design for a living, this workshop was an exercise in reminding me to think outside of the box. Each persons wreath was gorgeous and a reflection of themselves. It inspired me to reconsider how I design and to try to mentally push myself out of my standard routine.
I am so grateful to have these images from Amanda of Pure Lee Photo to look back on. It all seemed to be over in a flash and these warm, artful images captured the feeling of the room perfectly. The center of the table was filled with all of the ingredients for the wreaths and each place setting featured the stunning calligraphy handbook that Abbey created. It was a work of art and elevated the entire experience!
I'll be the first to admit that I have a lot to learn about public speaking and instruction, but I loved the feeling of teaching and helping others to embrace their creativity. There is certainly the possibility for floral design workshops in my future...
Our wildly talented class!
Abbey and I celebrating the wonderful day we had.
