Kara and Brendan tied the knot at one of my favorite places in Colorado, Devils Thumb Ranch. I am grateful ever time I get the chance to design in this beautiful place! Kara loved texture and wanted a neutral palette so we looked to the venue and the fall season for inspiration. It was so much fun to translate the warm, rustic detail of this venue into earthy and textural floral arrangements.
For Kara's bouquet we kept things very simple. The soft texture of her all astilbe bouquet complemented her classic silk gown perfectly. She looked like an movie star from old Hollywood in that ultra-feminine silhouette! Every detail, down to her velvet Jimmy Choo's, was absolutely perfect and so fitting with her timeless look.
Their ceremony was held in the Timber House. This is one of my favorite settings with all of its windows to let in gorgeous light and offer the view of the mountains everywhere you look. We designed a flowing hedge of pampas grass, lunaria, small textural blooms, and white flowers. Delphinium and larkspur gave the installation height, as well as a fresh infusion of green and white. Dried lunaria and pampas grass reflected the warm sunlight pouring through the windows. Small blooms such as statice and calcynia gave the design those little bits of texture and detail.
For the reception, guest tables were topped with floral centerpieces that reflected these same earthy elements. Touches of blush were incorporated to complement the agate name cards and table numbers. These highly detailed arrangements are balanced by the white linens, minimal place settings, and simple votive holders. To highlight the King's Table, we incorporated a lush greenery garland and taper candles. Tucked among the greens were small textural blooms and puffs of feathery pampas grass.
